Day to day this is briefs, concepts, layout and revisions: social creative, brand identity, packaging, print and increasingly motion. Most of the job is judgement about hierarchy and type, executed in Adobe or Figma.
How to become one — the qualification route
No licence and no fixed degree — hiring is almost entirely on portfolio. Design degrees help with fundamentals and networks; self-taught designers with strong portfolios compete fine.
Regulated professions have statutory entry requirements. Always confirm current rules with the relevant council or university before enrolling anywhere.
