What a nurse actually does
Nurses assess patients, administer medication and treatments, keep clinical records, assist procedures and are the continuous point of contact between the patient, the doctor and the family. Work is shift-based, and the mix of ward, ICU, OT or community work varies a lot by employer.
How to become one — the qualification route
In India the recognised entry routes are ANM, GNM or B.Sc Nursing, followed by registration with a State Nursing Council. Post Basic B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing are the standard progression routes; specialisation is usually earned through hospital experience plus short certifications.
Regulated professions have statutory entry requirements. Always confirm current rules with the relevant council or university before enrolling anywhere.

Which online courses actually help
Online courses do not replace a nursing qualification — they add the parts that hospitals and overseas employers ask for on top of it: infection control, first aid and BLS refreshers, medical coding and documentation, public health, and mental-health first aid. Language and IELTS courses matter if you are looking at overseas placements.
