Also called: advocate, legal associate, LLB

Lawyer — Advises, drafts and argues — in court or across a corporate desk.

This page covers what the work actually involves, the qualification route in India, and which online courses genuinely help on top of it. Course lists below update as we add courses to the matching topics.

What a lawyer actually does

Litigation work is drafting, filing, research and appearances; corporate work is contracts, due diligence, compliance and advisory. Both are heavy on precise drafting and reading.

How to become one — the qualification route

LLB (3-year after graduation or 5-year integrated) plus enrolment with a State Bar Council and the All India Bar Examination to practise. Corporate legal roles may not require enrolment.

Regulated professions have statutory entry requirements. Always confirm current rules with the relevant council or university before enrolling anywhere.

Which online courses actually help

Specialisation is where fees and salaries separate: corporate and contract law, intellectual property, cyber law and data protection, taxation law, and legal drafting as a craft skill.
